2018 Season Highlights at Ocala Horse Properties’ Grand Prix Stadium at HITS Ocala!

HITS Post Time Farm is the central hub for Hunter, Jumper and Equitation riders in the Marion County region. Wednesday through Sunday the facility is buzzing with show activity, as the organizers of HITS provide an impressive variety of A-rated divisions for their competitors.

Tom Struzzieri, the founder of HITS, has been running large-scale equestrian events nationwide since 1977. He has been a front-runner in organizing national and international divisions for junior equitation riders, as well as top professional Grand Prix show jumpers and hunter derby competitors.

This season is no different, with several key events returning to the Ocala Horse Properties’ Grand Prix Stadium at HITS Ocala, so mark your calendars to attend!

Week V of the Ocala Winter Festival / February 16th – 18th, 2018

Join us for a full weekend of action during the $265K Longines Grand Prix on Friday, February 16th, the Children’s/Junior Nations Cup on Saturday the 17th, and the $450K Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of the United States of America 2018, Sunday, February 18th. The Nations Cup, in its 4th year in Ocala, is unique due to its team format, so come out and watch top international talent battle it out for the big purse.

General admission tickets can be purchased in advance and include both events throughout the weekend. General admission is quite affordable at $10 per person, and children under 12 are free of charge. Tickets are also available for the full VIP experience for Sunday’s Nations Cup, which includes lunch and premium seating in the tent for $100 per person.

Week X – Ocala Championships / March 23rd – 25th, 2018

Friday, March 23rd is the HITS Equitation Championship, which is open to Juniors/Young Riders who have placed First, Second or Third in the USEF, ASPCA or M&S qualifying Junior Medal/ Maclay, Equitation or USEF Talent Search classes. These kids are required to test their independence and skill both in and out of the ring. With fences set at 3’6” and incorporating highly technical elements, competitors are not allowed to have any communication with their trainers in the designated warm-up area or during the course walk and competition! This is a wonderful format for developing horsemanship skills within the younger equestrian generation.

Saturday, March 24th will showcase some of the finest performance hunters in the nation at the $25K USHJA International Hunter Derby. Fences range in height from 3’6” to 4’3” and scores will be averaged between 2 rounds over Hunter Classic and Handy Hunter courses. Horses will be judged based on quality of movement, jumping style, pace, and brilliance.

Sunday, March 25th is the season’s grand finale at the Great American $1 Million Grand Prix. This is the 5th year for this event, and the second leg in the HITS Triple Crown of Show Jumping, which includes the AIG Grand Prix at Thermal (CA) and the Saugerties (NY) Grand Prix! To qualify, riders in the top 40 standings from Grand Prix classes throughout the season at HITS will be extended an invitation to participate. Competitors who have gone for the big money in this HITS $1 Million include last year’s top placing riders Lauren Hough, Aaron Vale, Andre Thieme, Ben Maher, McLain Ward, Todd Minikus, etc.

Mark your calendars and come experience all the action at the Ocala Horse Properties’ Grand Prix Stadium.  The team at OHP will see you there!
