We are excited to announce that we are moving into the Golden Hills Shopping Center plaza in February, 2018 and renovating more than 3,000 square feet of space in this critical northwest hub.
The Castro Family, longtime Ocala/Marion County residents continue to contribute to the improvement of the community by overseeing a $1.5 million renovation of the Golden Hills Shopping Center plaza.
Located at the southeast corner of U.S. 27 and County Road 225A, the shopping center is Ocala’s northwest community hub. And Ocala Horse Properties is proud to be a part of the revitalization effort.
“We are excited to announce that we are moving into the center and renovating more than 3,000 square feet of space in this critical northwest hub,” says Matt Varney with Ocala Horse Properties.
“We believe this will not only give us an even greater edge over the competition but prove to be a space where buyers and sellers alike can congregate and immerse themselves in the community.”
The renovation of the shopping center includes a new façade with an updated architectural aesthetic that preserves the equestrian vibe marked by the community.
Other new tenants include Darrell’s Diner and a yoga studio, which will complement the Horse and Hounds Restaurant and Pub, Artisanal Dish/Blue Wagyu—both proven staple eateries that have had a home in the plaza for many years.
The shopping center is close to Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club, the Ocala National Golf Club, and the Trilogy Ocala Preserve. Neighbors in the plaza also include Community Bank and Trust, Winning Edge Saddlery, Medicine Wheel Vet Services and the Golden Hills Pharmacy.
With the recent approval for Phase 1 of the development of the World Equestrian Center at Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club, this region on NW Highway 27 in Ocala is on the verge of exciting growth for the Florida horse community. With an increase in real estate interest, the renovation and improvements to the Golden Hills Center are well timed.
Terri Austin Keogh, manager of Castro Properties, says that the renovation will borrow from design elements of a horse show barn by whitewashing the brick, adding board and batten details, highlighting accents with black trim, and installing a new tin roof. Renovations began in March 2017 and are set to complete in January 2018.
“The Golden Hills Center is a unique retail shopping and dining destination. The renovation underway retains the authenticity of the original country stores design while incorporating materials and details akin to the Ocala horse country theme,” says Castro Properties about the renovation project.
With the expansion of the Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club, the goal is to remain a central hub for area patrons but to also attract more of the high-end crowd by capturing a boutique feeling in the shopping center.
