Winter Arts, Culture, and Entertainment in Downtown Ocala

The winter months in Ocala offer many opportunities to soak in our local culture, by experiencing the arts in downtown Ocala. Discover why entertainment options within the city limits of Ocala perfectly compliment the lifestyle and rural beauty of Marion County.

First Impressions at the Brick City Center for the Arts kicked off 2018 with an opening reception featuring Jordan Shapot, who will also host artist talks at the Marion Cultural Alliance. Founded in 2001, the Marion Cultural Alliance is at the heart of the city’s art community, supporting local artists through philanthropic efforts and holding monthly exhibits with regional artists.

Their website is a wealth of information for upcoming talks, workshops and gallery exhibitions.

Is An Evening of Music Beckoning You?

Then look no further than the Reilly Arts Center, home of the Ocala Symphony Orchestra. Located at Tuscawilla Park and in walking distance from Downtown Square, this gorgeous venue underwent a complete renovation in 2015.

“Featuring state-of-the-art acoustics and production equipment, the 700-seat venue hosts an eclectic assortment of events, concerts, meetings, and parties and has become a hub for the arts in Ocala.”

Upcoming events vary from Ragtime performers to classic rock, jazz, musical theatre and tribute bands. There are musical events for the entire family, so check out their line up on their website.

Don’t Forget Dinner and Drinks!

Of course, there are plenty of dining options in our historic city. For a special evening out, indulge yourself at La Cuisine, an intimate and charming restaurant owned by a young couple who relocated to Ocala from France.

The menu boasts traditional French cuisine with a modern twist, and has received rave reviews and the Golden Spoon Award for the past 7 consecutive years!

Ocala is also known for its BBQ joints and family friendly restaurants. You can’t go wrong at the Mojo Grill, Big Lee’s BBQ or Brick City Southern Kitchen. If you’re craving something a little different, check out Latinos Y Mas which serves high-quality contemporary Latin fusion cuisine.

One of our favorite dining options continues to be Mark’s Prime in the Downtown Square, which features the finest steaks, seafood and martini’s in town. Hailed by diners as the best steaks in Florida, every meal is prepared to order and the service is top notch.

Whether you grab a drink and more casual meal at the bar or opt for a full course meal in the dining room, Mark’s Prime will leave you with a memorable dining experience!
