Winter Storm Benji has brought snow to parts of south and coastal Texas and will blanket a 2,000 mile-long path from the Deep South and Northeast this weekend. Snow is also falling in a strip from parts of western and central Louisiana, southern and central Mississippi and parts of northern Alabama into north Georgia and the southern Appalachians.
Rare winter storm warnings have been issued for parts of Deep South Texas, parts of Mississippi, Alabama, north Georgia, and western North Carolina. Over 100,000 customers have lost power in the storm and schools have been shut down.
Snow will gradually taper off this morning in Deep South and coastal Texas, but will persist much of the day from parts of Louisiana to north Georgia. Any rain will change to snow in a thin band over parts of western North Carolina and southern Virginia. Friday night, a band of snow will spread as far north as southern New Jersey and southeast Pennsylvania, continuing in parts of Alabama, north Georgia, western North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Delaware. – Weather Channel
