Join Ocala Horse Properties as we travel to the $50,000 MARS Eventing Showcase, this weekend February 8 – 9, in Wellington at the AGDF showgrounds! The Wellington Eventing Showcase was founded in 2015 by Mark Bellissimo who had the intention of bringing the sport of eventing to a wider audience by inviting top riders to compete for prize money in Wellington. After a brief hiatus from the PBIEC competition schedule, the event is returning this year with Mars as Title Sponsor, and our partners at Wellington Equestrian Realty proudly are joining as a supporting sponsor!
Reviewing the list of horse and rider combinations for the event, it is clear that this is going to be a serious dual to the finish for the top FEI riders in the USA. The team at Ocala Horse Properties will join Wellington Equestrian Realty in full force to cheer for Liz Halliday-Sharp, who will be riding Ocala Horse Properties’ Deniro Z and the Monster Group’s Cooley Quicksilver.
Liz, who is based in Ocala, left for Wellington January 30th with Deniro Z, Cooley Quicksilver and Cooley Moonshine for several weeks of training with top show jumpers and the US Eventing Team’s coach, Eric Duvander. Liz, who is on the Pre-Elite Training List with our own Deniro Z, is spending the next several weeks fine tuning each horse in anticipation of a big competition year heading into the 2020 Olympics!
Fellow USEF team mate Boyd Martin has won the first 3 years of this competition, but we think Liz will give him a friendly run for the money at this year’s competition. As this is an invitational event, the entire entry list is stacked with the top riders in the industry, ensuring a thrilling spectator performance for all who attend!
The Dressage phase will run on Saturday, followed by both the Stadium Jumping and the Cross-Country on Sunday. The cross country rounds are exceptional to watch as Captain Mark Phillips has designed the track, which spans the grass derby field and has concluded by running through the VIP tent Ride times will be live on 2/5.
